FOODBANK REFURBISHED BY M&S SPARK SOMETHING NEW SCHEME

19th June 2017

Both Weston Marks & Spencer stores decided to join forces last week to redecorate Weston Foodbank as part of the national M&S Spark Something Good scheme. Over 3 days staff from both the High Street and Flowerdown stores completely repainted the Foodbank in a new fresh green shade, the reception area was given a decluttered look with new display boards and shelving and more storage was added across the building. They also donated over 160kg of food from the staff. M&S Spark Something Good scheme enabled the staff to volunteer to take part in the refurbishment and also offered the funding needed to cover the costs. Over the 3 days the Foodbank operated as normal and the teams of M&S were also able to see for themselves how the Foodbank operates and help with preparing emergency food parcels.

‘Redecorating the Foodbank had been a long-term project for us but we would never have been able to make it happen so quickly and thoroughly without the teams of MS. They provided the catalyst and the manpower, energy and funding to make it happen. We are so grateful that they chose our charity for their project and cannot thank them enough” says Frederique Wigmore, Project Manager.
